Hazel “Veraine” Ittersagen, age 92 of Chesterton, Indiana, passed away on October 13, 2019.  She was born on March 26, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to Sherman and Hazel Crawford, both of whom preceded her in death.  She is also preceded in death by her loving husband, David L. Ittersagen, and by her brother, Bob Crawford.

She graduated from Calumet High School in Chicago, Illinois.  She worked at Chesterton State Bank/NBD Bank for over 20 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chesterton, Indiana.  She helped start the VNA, Junior Women’s Club, and was a member of the Fillies Club. She was also an avid reader, loved playing bridge, enjoyed working puzzles, and playing Yahtzee. 

She is survived by her loving children: William Ittersagen of Manteno, Illinois, David (Stacy) Ittersagen of Wanatah, Indiana, John (Mary) Ittersagen of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Donna (James) Hannah of Loudon, Tennessee; her grandchildren: Tom Ittersagen, Tracey (Joe) Ramirez, Tim (Amy) Ittersagen, Kristen Hannah, Kimberly (Joe) Orvidas, Tabitha (Alex) Baron, Tyler Ittersagen, Matthew Ittersagen and Brittney Ittersagen; and by her great-grandchildren: Christian, Adriana, and Jose Jr. Ramirez, Mya Ittersagen and Eli Ittersagen.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 1 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN.  The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: 5501 N Cumberland Ave Suite 101, Chicago, IL 60656; First United Methodist Church: 434 S 2nd St, Chesterton, IN 46304 or to the Disabled American Veterans: 2301 Ohio St, Michigan City, IN 46360.
