Thomas E. Martin, age 66 of Valparaiso, passed away on February 4, 2019 at his home. He was born on January 7, 1953 to John A. Martin and Mary Jane (Irish) Martin, both of whom preceded him in death. On August 24, 1974 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, he married Lynne S. Johnson, who survives in Valparaiso. He is also survived by his daughter, Jennifer Martin (Thomas Pullman); his siblings: Evelyn Komenas, Greg (Chris) Martin, Steve (Beth) Martin, Bill (Terry) Martin, and Patty (Carlos) Castillo; his nieces and nephews: John Komenas, Elizabeth (Tyler) Albertson; Susan (Nick) Claywell, Adam Martin, Aaron (Libby) Martin, Andrew Martin, Samantha Martin (Tommy Roberts), Tom (Jacqui) Shumate, Samuel Dayton, and Michelle Dayton; by his sister-in-law, Adele Dayton; and by his fur baby, Annie. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Anne Martin. His love of history inspired his love of travel. Tom and his family visited Egypt, Greece, France, England and numerous historical US sites. Tom loved researching Civil War prisons and old blast furnaces, visiting them as often as possible. He took great pride in working as a bricklayer for Local 6 for over 40 years. His care for family was special. Tom leaves an example of how to live and love one another. He was large in stature, had an equally large heart, and was always there to listen. His daughter, Jennifer, his wife, Lynne, and his fur baby, Annie were the loves of his life. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN with Pastor Tim Wanless officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Donations may be given to Wounded Warriors, 230 W Monroe St Suite 200, Chicago, IL 60606. Memories may be shared at: www.whitelovefuneralhome.com.

My heart felt condolences, warm thoughts, and prayers are with Tom, Lynne, and the entire Martin family. I was shocked to see Tom's obituary today as it brought back many memories of being at the Martin household growing up. What a great family! Tom was a giant of man but had an even bigger heart and to those that were fortunate enough to have known him, will miss his humor, friendship, and basketball. Sleep well my friend. Vic
