 John “Corky” Heinold

Corky passed away on November 20, 2018, surrounded by his family, better known as “Corky’s Fan Club”.

Corky was born on September 24, 1939 in Peoria, Illinois to Eli and Georgina (Kinsman) Heinold.

On May 4, 1963, Corky married the love of his life, Leone “Bunky” Putchaven. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year.

Corky and Bunky have three daughters: Kelly (Jimmie) Hennings, Michele (Mark) Hopkins, and Shannon (Scott) Everett-Goldberg. He also has two daughters from a previous marriage, Sherry Heinold and Brenda (Marc) Shoukry.

Corky, lovingly referred to as Pop, made many happy memories with his grandchildren: Katie Jarka, James Hennings, Ryan and Emily Hopkins, Jack Everett and Wynn Goldberg.

Corky has two sisters: Jeanie Allison and Judy (Sonny) Miller.

He will also be missed by his brothers-in-law Clete, Larry (Karen) Putchaven, Greg Putchaven and his sisters-in-law MaryLou Putchaven-Henderson and Sandy Heinold, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Corky was an avid fisherman who was featured in Field & Stream magazine. He was a lifelong car enthusiast and loved cruising the Loop in Chicago. Corky was a great pool player. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and hunting. He was always very generous and helped anyone he came across. Corky has always been known for his great sense of humor. His favorite saying was PSA CAKE (piece of cake).

Corky spent his final month surrounded by an incredible amount of love from his wife Bunky, his daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, his Putchaven family, his sisters and countless family and close friends. The family appreciates everyone who visited. For a guy who loved attention, he sure did get it!

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ron Heinold, father and mother-in-law Leo and Lou Putchaven, brother-in-law Ron Allison, nieces Danette Heinold-Guth, Megan Putchaven, Kristen Putchaven and nephew Stewart Putchaven.

Visitation will be held at White-Love Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 27th at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services by Pastor Phil Willingham will follow at 1:00 p.m. The family will hold a private graveside burial at the Chesterton Cemetery following Pastor Willingham’s service.

Corky always gave to those in need. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you perform an act of kindness in Corky’s memory.
