Diana Biggs, a lifelong Chesterton, Indiana resident, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 11, 2018 after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. She was 64.

She was born on September 29, 1954 to Richard Michaels, who preceded her in death and Edna Michaels, who survives.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Kevin Biggs, her loving son, Matt (Ellery) Biggs, her sister, Kim (Mike) Schulze, her grandchildren: Katie Biggs, Ryan Biggs and Emily Biggs, and by her numerous nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by her loving daughter, Jennifer.

She worked as a bank teller for Chesterton State Bank before finding her true calling as a stay at home Mom, or as she would say, “Domestic Engineer.” She was not born a farm girl, but married a farm boy and quickly grew to love all things country. She loved to cook, sew, craft, and garden. Her family would often jokingly call her “Martha” as she was much like Martha Stewart with her cooking and crafting skills. She loved changing her homes décor with the seasons and holidays. She also had a special affinity for pumpkins, often growing and carving well in excess of 200 each year for Halloween. In her spare time, she was an avid genealogy researcher and was our “go-to” person if there was a question about how someone was related. She also bowled for many years on a Thursday morning ladies league and for a few years worked as a playground aid at Brummitt Elementary School.

She loved her family and especially her grandchildren, which she would spoil like no other. They always loved going to Grandma’s house on Saturday mornings.

She kept her courageous battle somewhat secret, as she was not one who wanted attention or “pity.” Per her wishes, there will be a private Graveside Service. Arrangements are under the care of White-Love Funeral Home and interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery. Donations may be given to VNA Hospice, 2404 Valparaiso Street, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
