 Ruby E. Landwer, age 93 of Chesterton, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 8 p.m. in Kenosha, WI. She was born on February 2, 1925 in Chesterton, IN to Hjalmer and Hazel (Furness) Lafving, both of whom preceded her in death.

On August 14, 1949 in Chesterton, IN she married the late Harold H. Landwer.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jaclyn M. Voss of Granger, IN and Janet L. Wait of Kenosha, WI; her four grandchildren: Marjorie, Ben, Kevin, and David; and by her nine great-grandchildren: Knoxdale, Korgan, Kelton, Kaiden, Audrey, John, Ava, Rebecca, and Elizabeth.

Ruby is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold, her loving daughter, June C. Landwer, her sister, Jane, and by her two brothers, Allen and Hjalmer Jr.

Ruby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a bookkeeper for many LaPorte businesses.


Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W 1100 N, Chesterton, IN with Pastor Erik Grayvold officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church on Thursday morning. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.

Chesterton, Indiana 46304 or to Aurora At Home Hospice Center, 116 N. Dodge St. Suite 8, Burlington, WI 53105.

Janet & Jacqueline, I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom, Ruby.
The last time I saw her was when Janet brought her to my mom's wake(Betty Furness Ambrose) in LaPorte back in 2008. Mike and I moved to N.C. five years ago and try to keep in touch. I'm happy to hear she will be put to rest in Chesterton. May Peace be with you and your families. Lynn
