A good man and a good shipmate. He was a lot of fun to be around aboard ship. I enjoyed talking with him at our 2009 reunion in Michigan. He will be missed by all who knew him. For his family: be strong and keep him in your heart and he will live forever!

I cant tap into the link but Tom was one hell of a shipmate, I was in my late teens when I met him and it turned into a great time with a bunch of guys from "anywhere USA"......RIP Tom !!!

Unfortunately, the link is not working for me either. I echo Mr. Finn's comments. I remember the time we were out at sea and several of us were in a card game to pass the time. It came down to Tom and I in a game of "In Between the Sheets", I won something around $300 bucks. Tom, as most of us, didn't have the money to pay off. In exchange, he offered me a Canon camera.

After the Navy, and as I married and started a family..... Most of the early years were captured with that camera. Tom had inscribed his name "Urbahns" on the back side. Every time the camera was used for the next 20 years of my life, I thought of him and the rest of my shipmates.

Rest in peace old friend and know that your life was a part of all of us who who came in contact with you!

My old friend, rest in peace and with all our love! You were one of a kind and helped me endure the time on the Tripoli. You are sorely missed my Brother. We regroup with Davey Jones and come back stronger. Rest in peace with Fair Winds and Following Sea!

Tom was without a doubt one of the most fun loving shipmates I've ever had. The stories we created together will always b special to me. I know that you will greet the rest of us as our time comes and teach us where the cool places are all at. Rest now my friend. We will see you when we get there.
