Hartcel “Bud” R. Rinker, age 88 of Chesterton, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso.  He was born on January 25, 1927 in Michigan City to Arthur and Willow Collins-Rinker, both of whom preceded him in death. 

Bud is survived by his daughter, Linda “Sis” Rinker of Chesterton and his daughters-in-law, Diane Rinker of Wheatfield and Sandra Miller of Valparaiso. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Fred (Lauri) Rinker Jr. of Wheatfield, Michelle Rinker of Wheatfield, Becky Rinker of Indianapolis and Kellie Kaiser of Wanatah, as well as his great-grandchildren: Soren, Evan, Elizabeth “Sis”, Deven and Lucas.

Bud is also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in 2004 and by his sons, Fred and Guy.

Bud was a proud Navy Veteran. He worked at Inland Steel as a Roller at the 10” Mill for over 30 years. He enjoyed working on cars and also worked at White-Love Funeral Home in Chesterton for many years. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 7 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd Street, Chesterton with Pastor Lori Rizer officiating.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. 

The family requests memorial donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1 North LaSalle Street Ste. 1200, Chicago IL 60602 or to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter 50 E. 91st Street, Suite 100 Indianapolis, IN 46240.

So sorry to here about Bud . I worked on his hot rods for many years and always had a lot of fun working on them with him . Great guy I will always remember him .
